EN Plug5 Plus
I have general questions about the product
Plug5 Plus is a USB power supply with integrated buffer battery and charging function, which is powered by a bicycle’s dynamo hub.
The intended use is cycling tours of all kinds. There are no restrictions regarding the range of use, i.e. it can be used on trekking, touring, city and road bikes as well as on mountain bikes.
The Plug5 Plus is powered by alternating current, as provided by a dynamo hub. It is not possible to connect it to the DC power supply of an e-bike battery. If your e-bike is equipped with a dynamo hub this can of course be connected.
This is possible thanks to our Auto-Light-Switch function. This automatically switches between operating modes "with" and "without" lighting. The simultaneous operation of lighting and charging function is possible, though the buffer battery in the Plug5 Plus is supplied with minimal power.
Yes, since Plug5 Plus is bolted to the bike, it cannot simply be removed.
For further theft protection we recommend the use of Hexlox.
Due to enormous market diversity, it’s impossible to verify every light combination separately. However, we know in a few cases customers experienced issues with Busch + Müller IQ-X light. Therefore we don’t recommend this combination.
I have questions about using the device
The Plug5 Plus can theoretically be operated in combination with any device that is capable of external USB operation or can be charged and operated simultaneously via USB. However, we cannot give any guarantee compatibility as all devices behave differently.

The maximum charge current is 1.2 amperes.
This is a software bug that occurs in a small batch of Plug5 Plus and is fixed by a software update. In this case, please contact our support, they will provide further instructions.
In this case your Plug5 Plus is defective. Please contact our support team.
We recommend our own Cinq USB-C cables. These are available in different versions in our online shop.
The Plug5 Plus can be operated from -15°C to 60°C.
Yes. A fully charged smartphone needs very little power. As a rule, the charging curves of smartphones are regressive.
Yes, when charging devices, we recommend switching them off for faster charging.
No, as long as your device meets the USB specification.
The power module of the Plug5 Plus is waterproof, the USB plug is protected against splashing water by the Rotary Door. Avoid high pressure water and water steams at all costs.
Splash water protection is only provided when the Rotary Door is closed.
Water may get onto the USB contacts or bridge the inner contacts. Usually the plug will work again after drying. To speed up the process, we recommend dismantling the Topcap and drying it indoors.
Please refer to the instruction manual.
I have questions about assembly
In any bike with a stem that meets the 1 1/8" standard, except for bottom closed carbon forks. The internal fork steerer tube must have an inner diameter greater than 24.1mm on the full length of at least 170mm.
The Plug5 Plus cannot be used on bikes with a Speedlifter, as it is not possible to run cables through the head tube.
Please refer to our instruction manual. This is available on the product page on our website.
Yes, in case of doubt you should have the installation carried out by a specialist dealer, but with some manual skill and the tools according to the installation instructions the installation should not be a problem.
The USB socket of the Plug5 Plus should be facing forward during installation. In this orientation it is optimally protected against impact damage when the bicycle falls over. You should keep the Plug5 Plus in this orientation even if you twist the handlebars for transport. If Plug5 Plus rotates during this process, it is possible to damage the wiring.
No. When retrofitting your existing bike, note the removal/modification of the star-nut. On our youtube channel you will find a video on how to remove it.
Yes, readjust the headset like a normal Ahead system.
If the PowerModule is connected incorrectly, the lighting does not work, but the status LED on the Plug5 Plus lights up white. Check the wiring according to the instructions.
I have questions about technology

No, the buffer battery is charged when the plug is not in use. If the buffer battery is full, the Plug5 Plus consumes very little power.
The buffer battery of the Plug5 Plus is charged from approx. 5km/h. The charging functionality of your device is independent of the speed driven.
The dynamo should provide a power of 3W at a voltage of 6V. Older rim or tire models and 1.5W dynamos usually do not deliver enough power.
We use a USB-C connector, because it allows a more compact design and the connector can be connected in any orientation.
